MAX2000 Additional Options & Accessories

Table of Contents

Low profile clamping straps Low Profile Clamping Straps are recommended for nozzle heaters requiring limited clearance, where standard barrel nuts are too high. Available in all lead options.

OPTIONS &

ACCESSORIES

Wedge Lock provides clamping where space is limited and low profile straps cannot be used. Contact Kelvin for other lead options Wedge lock Corrosion Resistant or Special Sheath Materials such as stainless steel, copper, or aluminum, etc. are available upon special request.
Strip heaters with bends

Strip Heaters With Bends are designed to fit dies, adapters, or rectangular shaped parts. Clamping at each corner provides even pressure across the heater to assure a good heat transfer. Available in lead types 1,5,6 and 7

Irregular Shaped Heaters are offered for special shaped dies and applications. One or two piece construction is available.

Two Piece Bands can be easily installed over a cylinder rather than slipped on from the end. Specify the line voltage and wattage per half. Available in all lead options.

Two piece bands Quick Disconnect Plugs can be attached to the heater band or to the end of lead options 5, 6, and 7. Consult Kelvin for specific plug types available.
Expandable bands Expandable Bands are designed to be opened and closed for quick installation. They are shipped open and should not be opened or closed more than twice. Available in all lead options. Button Terminals are 7/16" high and can be used in place of standard ¾" high Type 1 stud terminals, if clearance is a problem.
Clamping Tabs are available for applications where straps impede openings for instrumentation. However, high-torque clamping straps provide superior heat transfer and should be used whenever poss clamping tabs Lead Protection Springs can be specified to act as a stain relief for lead options 5 and 7. For application with excessive lead flexing where the leads exit the heater band.
Terminal boxes Terminal Boxes are used to protect exposed terminals. Knock outs and threaded holes are available for armor cable or conduit connections. Minimum band diameter is 3". Consult Kelvin for box dimensions. Outside Diameter Bands are available for applications that require heating on the ID of cylinders of dies. All hardware and terminations are on the inside diameter of the band.

Ceramic Terminal Covers offer inexpensive terminal protection for type 1 bands. Consists of two ceramics parts, the "cap" threads onto the post and fastens a ceramic "skirt" that protects the terminal connections.

Ceramic terminal covers Thermocouple Mounting Brackets are available for attachment to the heater band strap to hold the thermocouple sensor in place. Specify location and type of bracket required.
Three terminal or Lead construction Three Terminal or Lead Construction is available to provide dual voltage, three phase, three zone of operation, or act as a ground. Available in all lead options. Consult Kelvin for more information. Hinged Two Piece Bands provide advantages similar to the "two-piece" bands by permanently attaching the halves together with a hinge.

European Plugs allows for quick disconnect and replacement of heaters on foreign manufactured machinery. The standard plug is 2 pin, 240 volt and 15 amps. Consult Kelvin for other plug options. European plugs
Integral straps Integral Straps eliminate lost straps. Especially helpful on large, 2 piece bands, where installation of heater and separate strap may be awkward. Stainless steel outer sheath provides low expansion clamping pressure across the entire heater surface. Available in all lead options.

Internal Thermocouple Junction can be located against the inside wall of the heater sheath. Used to monitor the temperature of the heater sheath or approximate temperature of part being heated. Available in all lead types except post or button terminals.

Internal thermocouple junction
Holes, Cut-outs, and Notches Holes, Cut-Outs, and Notches to provide clearance for thermocouple probes, bolts, etc. Specify hole locations in degree from center of gap. For critical locations provide sample band or detailed drawings. Available in all lead options. In many cases oversized gap can eliminate the need for special holes.
